The youth groups of St. Paul's will serve to be an open forum where participation is valued and learning will be communal. Meetings and material will be Eucharistically and Biblically centered. Growing and enriching our faith and living a life close to Christ is the primary objective.
Three meetings per month will be divided into the following: Catechetical Nights, Issue Nights, and Social Nights.
Catechetical Nights will pick up where SOAR left off. These nights will focus on a specific theme each month and are meant to educate teens regarding specific teachings of our Catholic faith. The main purpose of Catechetical Night is for teens to discover how their faith journey is relevant to their daily lives.
Issue Nights will be an instance where teens can bring any questions to discuss. Issue Nights are an opportunity for teens to learn about issues that are important to them. Teens are given a piece of paper and told to write an issue or question that they would like to discuss during the evening. The papers are then put into a hat, drawn out at random, and discussed. All issues and questions are submitted anonymously.
Social Nights are self-explanatory. No teaching/lesson/agenda--just a night to hang out with friends, play games, eat food that's bad for you, and just have fun. Video games, board games, and large group games are all elements of social nights.
The fourth meeting of the month will be open to the discretion of the Youth Minister.
In addition to weekly meetings, there will be bi-monthly events such as movie nights, lock-ins, sports outings, and community service projects.
