Sacrament Preparation
Please check the parish bulletin for the dates and times for all sacrament preparation sessions.

Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism invites us on a journey of faith as a disciple of Jesus. It is the beginning of our initiation into the Christian mystery. It bestows a grace upon us to be formed into God’s people wherein we become part of the community known as the Body of Christ. Adults and children of catechetical age make the choice for themselves (RCIA); parents make the choice for infants. Infant baptism is usually celebrated during Mass, but can also be scheduled outside Mass. Contact Deacon Mark at 671-2100, ext. 23, for more information.

Eucharist & Confirmation
Readiness of the individual is the guiding principle for determining when to celebrate the sacraments. St. Paul's holds an information meeting each fall to assist parents who think their children may be ready to prepare and celebrate the sacraments. Parent sessions are held, and materials are given to parents to use with their children during the preparation.

Although our programs are readiness-based, our recommendation for the receipt of sacraments is generally:
  • First Eucharist: 2nd or 3rd grade
  • First Reconciliation: 3rd or 4th grade
  • Confirmation: 5th grade

The Diocese of Rochester allows for the joint celebration of Confirmation and Eucharist , known as “restored order,” after the age of seven. This option is also available, depending on the child’s readiness. Contact Linda Pepe at
671-2110 or Kim Sbarra 671-2100, ext. 28, for more information.

Reconciliation
Reconciliation is the sacrament of God’s healing forgiveness. Children are invited to prepare and celebrate when they reach fourth grade, although they may decide to do this earlier or later. Information meetings will be held in the fall to explain the process of preparation and celebration. Contact Linda Pepe at 671-2110 or Kim Sbarra at
671-2100, ext. 28, for more information.

Sacrament of Healing
Please let us know if a member of your family is ill. General “Anointing of the Sick” is celebrated most Tuesday mornings after Mass in church, but anyone with a serious illness may call the church to arrange for anointing at any time. Please do call. The sacrament is for the sick, not just for the dying.

We would like to visit them in the hospital or at home, and bring Communion. Please call the office at 671-2100 to arrange for anointing or for Communion to the sick or homebound.

Marriage Preparation
If you are planning to be married, please contact the pastor at
671-2100 at least six months in advance. After contacting him, you may then register for the FOCUS Inventory offered by Deacon Mark, 671-2100, Ext 23, and one of the Pre-Cana sessions offered by the Diocese (www.dor.org, click on Sacraments/Marriage).
